Spain's 400 rule: how to block sales calls

October 2026 · 3 min read · Leer en espaƱol

From 17 October 2026, sales calls in Spain must come from phone numbers that start with 400. That makes them easy to spot, and easy to block.

What changes on 17 October

A company that calls you to sell something has to use a number that starts with 400. Customer service calls, like the ones from your bank or your phone company, do not come from 400 numbers.

So when a 400 number calls, you know what it is before you answer: someone who wants to sell you something.

Two ways to block 400 calls with Bouncer

  1. Block everyone except your contacts. A 400 sales number is almost never in your contacts, so this already stops them. Your contacts still ring, and so does anyone on your allow list.
  2. Block only the 400 range. If you want other unknown numbers to keep ringing, block just the sales calls. In Spain, Bouncer has Sales calls (400) ready in Lists > Ranges. Turn on Block your custom list in Settings, and every call from a 400 number stops ringing.
Bouncer's Lists screen with the Sales calls (400) range at the top
Lists > Ranges in Bouncer, on a phone in Spain. Sales calls (400) is already there.

Will I miss important calls?

Under the new rules, customer service calls do not come from 400 numbers, so blocking 400 leaves them alone. Your contacts always ring, and any number on your allow list rings too.

If someone you don't know really needs you, Allow persistent callers lets them through when they call 3 times in 30 minutes.

How to set it up

  1. Install Bouncer from Google Play.
  2. In setup, make Bouncer your spam blocking app, and allow access to your contacts.
  3. Choose how to block: everyone except your contacts, or only your list, with Block your custom list in Settings.

Setup takes about 30 seconds. Bouncer works on the phone itself, so it keeps blocking without internet.
